It was #13 in Amazon’s Video Games best sellers when we looked on October 30, 2026. That number changes through the day.

What’s in the box

The listing lists the console, a wireless controller, an HDMI cable, an AC power cord, a USB cable, two horizontal stand feet and some printed material. Astro’s Playroom comes pre-installed. The vertical stand is sold separately, so if you want it standing up you’ll need to buy that on its own.

The disc question

You pick this version over the digital one for a simple reason: you can put a disc in it. That means you can buy used games, borrow from a friend, or pick up physical copies when the shelf price beats the download. The listing has one line worth reading before you buy. It says that from January 2028, newly released PlayStation games will be sold on the PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital format only, and that discs for games released before then keep working on this console. That’s Sony’s plan as the listing states it, so check it on the Amazon page yourself.

The other thing it mentions: you need an internet connection to pair the disc drive to the console the first time you set it up.

Who should look at the digital edition instead

If you never touch discs, the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition on this site is the same family without the drive. For everyone else with a shelf of physical games, this is the sensible pick.
